An area rich in history, Nevada County saw its first real population boom during the Gold Rush, one-hundred fifty years ago. This community, nestled in the foothills above Sacramento, has now become an employment center of another sort as many research and development divisions of world-leading technology companies have found a home here.

Grass Valley has a slightly different flavor, having recently undergone a facelift.
